I will always remember meeting Lauren, my very best friend from middle school. The school cafeteria was crowded with all the students eating lunch together in many groups. I noticed her eating alone separately from everyone else. I went to join her for lunch and she really appreciated me giving her company since no one wanted to be with her because she was blind. Being autistic, I have always and still have empathy, especially for people who are different. We both have accepted each other for who we are and are still best friends.
